NEA General Counsel Bob Chanin (pronounced like Channon) is attending his final Representative Assembly.
He is a perennial crowd favorite, and this year delegates are trying harder than ever to ask questions which will bring him to the podium for his unique (and beloved) explanations of issues, court orders, or other legal matters.
In case you can't tell, he is smiling in the picture.
He has quite a story with NEA and will leave quite an impact on public education.
A glimpse:
I am sure there will be some sort of salute to Chanin toward the end of the RA. He will no doubt put on quite a show of displeasure at all of the fuss. Inside, though, I am betting he will be touched by the gesture.

A glimpse:
Chanin has briefed and argued five cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and has filed amicus curiae briefs in another 25. He has briefed and argued more than 40 matters before the circuit courts of appeals in cases spotlighting First and 14th amendment issues of free speech, free association, equal protection, due process and the separation of church and state.
