Wright to Duncan: Federal Role in Teacher Evaluations?

Arizona Education Association President John Wright sat on an eight-person panel who asked new Secretary of Education Arnie Duncan questions following his address to a pre-Assembly gathering of delegates on July 2nd.

Below, John asks Secretary Duncan what role he thinks the federal government should play in the evaluation of teachers.

The question is important, since public education is a state power, and the certification and evaluation of teachers has always been handled by the individual states and local governing boards, respectively. If the federal government wades into certification issues, it could have a precedent-setting impact.
